Boyan Ukrainian Dance

BOYAN UKRAINIAN DANCE ASSOC.
Boyan Ukrainian Dance Association was formed in 1967 as part of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. Over the years, the club has grown from its few founding families running once a week, to being able to offer Ukrainian Dance instruction 5 nights a week to over 90 families and 170 dancers aged 4-19. Last year, Boyan celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a performance and social at TCU Place. Boyan proudly represents the Ukrainian Community at local events such as this, and at competitions around the province and into Alberta. Under the direction of 5 devoted and passionate instructors, Boyan strives to share their love of dance and Ukrainian culture on and off the stage. Today, they are here to perform two girls dances from Western Ukraine for your enjoyment.

BOYAN on TOUR
Boyan on Tour – or BOT as it is lovingly referred, was designed as an outreach group for Boyan Ukrainian Dance Association’s most senior and committed students. At its inception, Boyan on Tour (BOT) consisted of 16 dancers and 4 creative directors who together, worked tirelessly to bring their love of Ukrainian dance to the stage home and abroad! In 2013 in Saskatoon, BOT debuted their first creative endeavor, entitled ‘Fantazia!’. BOT took the show on the road and toured Redding, Connecticut, Whippany, New Jersey, and New York, New York, and met fantastic fellow dancers and mentors along the way. Prep for their second international tour began with another new show entitled ‘Journey’ (Podorozh). This tour in 2015 took the dancers and directors to Costa Rica where they performed alongside cultural groups in three very diverse cities, including San Jose, La Fortuna and the Manuel Antonio National Park.

BOT’s 25 dancers are currently under the direction of Shaunda Arsenie and Paul Kodak who provide unsurpassed vision and direction. As BOT grows, their eyes are set on even bigger and better things to come, including a tour to Ukraine in summer 2018! The passion of the dancers and directors and their combined commitment to Ukrainian culture makes for vibrant and captivating performances!  Today, they are here to perform their Bukovynian Suite.
