Biographie
[FR] Originaire de Delmas, Madeleine Blais-Dahlem a passé toute sa vie sous le grand ciel bleu de la Saskatchewan, sauf pour quelques mois à Expo 67 à Montréal. Après une première carrière dans l’enseignement, elle a réalisé son rêve d’enfance lorsqu’elle s’est mise à écrire avec et pour ses étudiants en immersion en 1992. La Troupe du Jour a produit et tourné trois de ses pièces, Foyer en 2005, (une co-production avec L’Unithéâtre d’Edmonton), Les vieux péteux en 2008 et La Maculée en 2011. Cette pièce a remporté un prix SATA (Saskatoon and Area Theatre Awards) pour Réalisation Exceptionnelle en Dramaturgie et a représenté le Canada à la conférence Women Playwrights International à Stockholm, Suède en 2012. Son premier roman, La Voix de mon père, a été publié en 2015 et a remporté le Prix du livre français des Saskatchewan Book Awards en 2017. En 2020, ENP a produit ce roman en version audio, le premier livre par un auteur en Saskatchewan sur cette plateforme.

Biography
[EN] Madeleine Blais-Dahlem was born and raised in Saskatchewan, in the shadow of the Eagle Hills west of Battleford. She studied at the University of Saskatchewan and after a joyful career in teaching French and English at the secondary level, she eased into her childhood dream of become a writer. She formed a theatre company with her high school students (Les Calembours) and for ten years, competed annually in a theatre festival, always with an original play. She then developed a relationship with La Troupe du Jour, Saskatchewan’s only professional French language theatre, that produced three of her adult plays : Foyer (Almost Home) in 2005, Les vieux péteux (Old Farts) in 2008 and La Maculée(sTain) in 2011. In 2012, La Maculée received a SATA for Exceptional Playwrighting, it was invited to WPIC in Stockholm, Sweden and was showcased in Ottawa at a Festival of New Plays. Madeleine had her first novel, La voix de mon père /My Father’s Voice published in 2015 in a bilingual format. It was awarded Le prix du livre français by Saskatchewan Book Awards in 2017. It was recently produced as an audio book, the first Saskatchewan publication in French or English to receive that treatment.
