This evening he will share stories and experiences that have impacted his life.

We invite you to come along in conversation with Marcel and Theresa to explore what it means to discover our heritage.

Theresa Sokyrka

One of Canada’s most pure and honest voices with the soul of a joyful goddess, Sokyrka has paved a unique career for herself the last 25 years. The multifaceted musician, singer songwriter and Canadian Idol 2004 runner-up, has independently sold over 100,000 records, securing GOLD status on her first album which also garnered a JUNO nomination for Pop Album of the Year.

Armed with a random trident of life experiences she continues to hone her craft. In the last 5 years she has released several cover songs with Jesse Brown that have collectively earned over 9 million streams worldwide.

There is no denying Sokyrka continues to meaningfully address an array of raw emotions with her voice, connecting deeply with her ancestral matriarchal folk healing lineage through music. She is a musical force that will, to quote Neil Young, “keep on rockin’ in the free world.”
